RASA means “feeling” in Bahasa Indonesia, it also refers to “tase”, “sense”, “to think” or “to consider”. RASA is also a Sanskrit word that represents the essential element being suggested through the visuals, literature or performing arts. Human is the only creature on earth who is equipped with RASA. Due to recent events, our sense and all aspects as social beings have significantly changed. These past months, with the abrupt halt of our everyday tasks, we got stuck to sit quietly and make reflections. Undoubtedly, we put actions to share our common element as human, which is RASA. Therefore, one way to challenge our identity as human is to bring back RASA to our life via the arts. On that note, we put forward the variety of artworks showcasing wide range of RASA, as created by 32 visual artists from Indonesia.

Kita Art Friends (KAF) is an artist collaboration project initiated by Abdes Prestaka since November 2019, with a vision to bring art closer to people. Abdes believes art should be celebrated anytime and anywhere. Up to now, KAF has collaborated with 35 Indonesian artists, produced art merchandise, live art and art exhibition. Those visual artists in R AS A art exhibition are from Jakarta, Bandung, Y ogyakarta, Surabaya, Gresik and Bali. The artworks reflect their individual intricate styles, colors and mediums. Some are with expressive heavier brushstrokes. Some artworks are fulfilling, creating a sense of serene. Some take us into a journey of fantasy. In this occasion, Kita Art Friends (KAF) will also present a new way to enjoy artworks. RASA art exhibition will present a chance seeing some artworks animated before your eyes through the augmented reality technology.

KAF collaborates with Alila Seminyak, an international resort in Bali that is strongly committed to social, cultural and environmental responsibilities; regarded as essential elements for sustainable business. In all activities, the resort aims to respect and preserve the way of life and traditions of local communities. This collaboration of presenting ‘RASA’ art exhibition to close 2020 intends to pave our voyage to contemplate the change of our community, also how we are going to shift and adapt. How we should reconsider treating ourselves and appreciating things around us, within our reach, that often were taken for granted. Let’s explore our RASA, set aside our doubt, invite abundant hopes and opportunities.
