Sanur’s most iconic resort, Bali Hyatt, returns with a brand-new face as Hyatt Regency Bali.
Starting off the new year with a bang, Sanur’s most iconic hotel, Bali Hyatt, reopens with a brand-new look and a brand-new name. After a five-year renovation, the hotel finally reopens its doors as Hyatt Regency Bali. As one of the oldest hotels in Sanur, Bali Hyatt was established in 1973 when Kuta was a quiet fishing village and long before Nusa Dua became the crème de la crème of luxurious holiday resorts. When it first opened, Bali Hyatt was the only resort that retained Indonesian and Balinese aesthetics in the design during a period when most resorts in Bali were almost unanimously advocating Western- inspired designs. Known as the most luxurious and stylish resort when it first opened, Hyatt Regency Bali aims to evoke the same impression with the upgrades and renovations it has made while still retaining the same Balinese aesthetic that made people fall in love with it in the first place.
As a pioneer in luxurious Balinese aesthetics and landscaped tropical designs, Hyatt Regency Bali enlisted the help of Tierra Design (Bangkok) and Spin Design Studio (Tokyo) to renovate structures and modernize facilities while still retaining the characteristics, ambience and soul of the original Bali Hyatt. The lobby retains its original rustic thatched roof but redesigned with opened surroundings to provide uninterrupted views of the gardens and the Indian Ocean. Materials from the Bali Hyatt has been repurposed as wall art and sculptures. Local materials and techniques have been utilized with a contemporary approach throughout the designs.
The resort offers 363 deluxe rooms ranging from 27 – 81sqm each equipped with a private balcony with views of the lush gardens or the stunning Indian Ocean. The rooms feature endless Balinese influences such as unique carved banyan wood, half-split bamboo wall panels and woven rattan panels. Of the 363 rooms, Hyatt Regency Bali provides 39 one-bedroom suites perfect to accommodate families and large groups that features expansive balconies spanning up to 70sqm, a separate living room that can fit an extra bed and an extra bathroom with shower. Additionally, guests booking the suites are provided with access to the Regency Club Lounge which provides them with a private concierge, complimentary breakfast, all-day snacks and evening cocktails with canapes.
The luxe resort provides guests with three alfresco drinking and dining destinations which offers authentic, reasonably priced food and beverage using locally sourced organic ingredients. The resort also hopes to decrease its environmental impact by implementing lesser plastic use, opting to use paper straws, recyclable coffee cups and bags made from bagasse. Guests can enjoy all-day dining at the resort’s Omang Omang restaurant where they serve excellent Indonesian comfort food and international cuisines with gorgeous views of the lush gardens and pools to further enhance the dining experience. The restaurant offers buffet breakfast, all-day resort favorites, and for dinner, charcoal-grilled seafood and meats. Omang Omang is also famous for its Es Campur.
The Pizzaria is the perfect place for casual drinking and dining. With uninterrupted views of the ocean, guests can enjoy the mesmerizing Sanur sunset with a cocktail in hand. The Pizzaria is known for several specialties such as pasta cooked à la minute, pizza baked in wood-fired ovens, frozen cocktails and Italian sodas combined with fresh fruit and herbs. The Piano Lounge is a quiet spot for business meetings and casual gatherings, where gamelan musicians serenade you during the day and a pianist during the night. The Piano Lounge also offers signature afternoon tea with barista-made Indonesian coffee and loose-leaf tea.
The resort is equipped with three swimming pools adjacent to the beach consisting of a Lap Pool, a Children’s Pool and a Main Pool enclosed with dangling bougainvillea where the resort has replicated the historical Goa Gajah in Ubud. A 24-hour Fitness Center is also available where guests can work out to stay in shape during their holiday. The Fitness Center is designed with floor-to-ceiling glass to give guests views of the gardens. To relieve tension and stress, the Shankha Spa will open in the 1st quarter of 2019 to provide guests with the best rejuvenating treatments. Equipped with ten spa suites comprising of a treatment room, relaxation area, shower, changing room, vanity area and private garden with an outdoor whirlpool area. Using local ingredients, the spa offers a selection of treatments inspired by Balinese wellness techniques.
Other facilities in the resort include a second Lap Pool, a Juice Bar, a Yoga Studio, an outdoor hot and cold plunge pools, and a relaxation area. Also due in the 1st quarter of 2019 is Camp Hyatt, a children’s area comprising of an outdoor playground, an indoor playroom, and an educational and entertaining program teaching Balinese arts, crafts and cultural activities.
Hyatt Regency Bali also provides an event space designed as a compound with a central outdoor courtyard inspired by traditional Balinese community pavilions, wantilan. The event space has its own drop-off entryway and is equipped with five individual gathering spaces with glass walls. The resort also provides a 468sqm Ballroom complete with a show kitchen for live culinary theater and has a capacity of up to 600 guests. Four additional multifunctional meeting spaces are also provided, with spaces ranging from 98sqm to 324sqm and has the capacity of 25 – 150 guests. For outdoor events, the 240sqm Courtyard is the ideal place that can host up to 120 guests. With a brand-new name, a brand-new look, updated and modernized designs, complete with the facilities expected from a luxurious resort, Hyatt Regency Bali’s 5-year renovation is worthwhile the wait. Hyatt Regency Bali is the perfect destination for those seeking a relaxing vacation on the quieter side of Bali, pampered with the best amenities and warm hospitality.
