As the latest project of Indonesian celebrity chef and restaurateur Arnold Poernomo, LACI offers a comforting delicacies of Australian classics infused with local Indonesian and Pan-Asian taste for casual brunch or dinner occasion. The two-storey eatery boasts a cozy open-air setting with elegant brown, white, black and dark-wooden tone. There are three intimate cabanas on the side, gorgeously built surrounded by clear pond for those who are looking for a more romantic and secluded dining space. The interior revolves around the “LACI” concept (literally means drawer/cabinet); rustic wooden drawers hang open on the walls with greeneries growing out of each wooden cabinets.
“We wanted a catchy name to be easily remembered” explains Arnold Poernomo about the restaurant’s name. “The Indonesian name of ‘drawer’, LACI, is a metaphor for Canggu community that we treat as precious gem to be keep in our ‘drawer’; for safekeeping” he said.
For a starter, try LACI’s Mushroom Fritter; a portion of deep-fried sizable button mushrooms served along tasty homemade aioli sauce. The distinctive mushroom flavor blends perfectly with sweet-and-sour aioli create a pleasant taste on your palate and effectively serves as a trusty appetite booster. Then moving to the main course, tuck into LACI’s signature Beef Burger; a scrumptious portion of Western classic with juicy patty, soft buttery bun, caramelized onion and melty cheddar. Or if you’re extra hungry, you can opt for the mouth-watering Pork Belly Steak; tender and delicious slab of pork steak served with tasty cauliflower puree and crunchy pork crackling–as a tribute to one of Bali’s legendary staple dishes, ‘babi guling’ (suckling pig).
To wrap your whole pleasant dining experience, LACI’s delightful desserts are not to be missed. Try their Lemon Basil; a fine combination of fluffy shortcake, white coconut crumble, and refreshing sweet-meets-sour of tapioca pearls and meringue, or the unique Coconut Espuma; which consist a generous portion of Coffee Caramel puffy cream, sprinkles of ‘serundeng’ (grated fried coconut) on top of sweet dulce jelly.
